Management Profiles

Andrew Wernsdorfer – Managing Director

Mr. Wernsdorfer has over 25 years of international investing and management experience. Prior to founding Berrendo Wind Energy, he worked with Denargo Capital, a private investment-banking group, working on behalf of clients in the banking, technology, software, biofuels and petroleum industries. Before that he founded Periscope Capital, which provided financial and business consulting services to early stage companies. In 1999 he also founded Continental WindPower LLC, pursuing projects in Kansas, Oklahoma and Wyoming, where he was involved in early-stage wind development including land acquisition, utility interconnection and meteorological assessment.

He began his career working in the Treasury at Saudi Aramco, the global leader in petroleum production, where he was involved with investment and trading functions. Following graduate school he worked for 10 years in senior management at Campbell & Company, a global multi-billion dollar commodity hedge fund. Mr. Wernsdorfer earned his undergraduate degree in Finance from the University of Colorado and his MBA from Loyola University – Maryland.

Joel Johnson, PE, CEM – Managing Director

A Registered Professional Engineer and a Certified Energy Manager, Mr. Johnson has over 25 years of experience in management, operations, and technical consulting. He was raised in Roswell, NM in the ranching business and attended New Mexico Military Institute. He then received a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Colorado and an MBA from Stanford University. He began his professional career with Amoco Production Company and worked in the oil and gas business throughout the 1980s performing a variety of design and project management activities on multi-million dollar oil and gas facilities, including water-floods, CO2 compression and recovery, electric transmission and energy efficiency while working extensively with investor owned utilities and rural electric associations. He subsequently became an environmental and renewable energy consultant, and has held project and operations management positions with startups and large firms.

Prior to founding Berrendo, Mr. Johnson was Vice President with URS Corporation, a $9 billion company where he was responsible for much of the Colorado business. He was a member of the Colorado Senate Energy Task Force in 2000 and appointed by Governor Owens to the State Commission on Low Income Energy Assistance. He is now a member of the Board of Directors of Energy Outreach Colorado.
